The Polish carbon brush market declined to $X in 2021, dropping by -6.1% against the previous year. In 2021, exports of carbon brushes from Poland rose remarkably to X tons, increasing by 10% compared with 2020 figures. In general, exports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 285%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carbon brush exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 235%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Russia (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of carbon brush exports from Poland, together accounting for 54% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Serbia, which together accounted for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +55.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for carbon brush exported from Poland were Germany ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 45% of total exports. In 2021, the average carbon brush export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of carbon brushes, when their volume decreased by -7.9% to X tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 87% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, carbon brush imports declined to $X in 2021. Germany (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of carbon brush imports to Poland, together accounting for 70% of total imports. China, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, Denmark and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +78.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average carbon brush import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 11%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
