In terms of the main countries of destination, North Macedonia, with a CAGR of +60.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cocoa butter export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -19.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, purchases abroad of cocoa butter increased by 4.9% to X tons, rising for the eighth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, cocoa butter imports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of cocoa butter imports to Poland, with a combined 83% share of total imports. Italy, Switzerland, Denmark and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Switzerland (with a CAGR of +144.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cocoa butter import price decreased by -21.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries.
