In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile production dropped slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Exports from Poland
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of copper bars, rods and profiles decreased by -25.3% to X tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 61%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 67%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for copper bar, rod and profile exports from Poland, with a 38% share of total exports. Moreover, copper bar, rod and profile exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +3.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+2.0% per year) and the UK (+28.6% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for copper bars, rods and profiles exports from Poland, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +6.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+5.5% per year) and the UK (+28.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for copper bars, rods and profiles amounted to $X per ton, rising by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper bar, rod and profile export price increased by +50.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 47%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Copper Bars, Rods and Profiles
Imports into Poland
In 2022, imports of copper bars, rods and profiles into Poland fell slightly to X tons, declining by -2.5% against the year before. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +6.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 56%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of copper bar, rod and profile imports to Poland, together accounting for 84% of total imports. Turkey, Finland, Belgium, France and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +47.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest copper bar, rod and profile suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), Bulgaria ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 82% share of total imports. Finland, Turkey, Belgium, France and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
Finland, with a CAGR of +48.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for copper bars, rods and profiles stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper bar, rod and profile import price increased by +63.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 42%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
