In value terms, modified starches exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 70% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of modified starches exports from Poland, together accounting for 61% of total exports. Italy, Norway, France, the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Ireland and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +155.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and France ($X) were the largest markets for modified starches exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined 58% share of total exports. Ukraine, the Netherlands, Ireland, Indonesia, Norway, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Germany and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +176.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average modified starches export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, modified starches export price increased by +16.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2022, supplies from abroad of dextrins and other modified starches decreased by -10% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -12.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 22%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, modified starches imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +108.6% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

France (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of modified starches imports to Poland, together comprising 52% of total imports. Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest modified starches suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 51% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +16.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average modified starches import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 36% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
