In value terms, dried prune exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 67%. Germany (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of dried prune exports from Poland, together accounting for 41% of total exports.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for dried prunes exports from Poland, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with an 8.3% share.

Based on 2022 figures, dried prune export price increased by +73.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

For the third year in a row, Poland recorded growth in overseas purchases of dried prunes, which increased by 3.4% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dried prune imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Chile (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dried prune to Poland, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, dried prune imports from Chile exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Moldova (X tons), with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Chile amounted to +8.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+8.1% per year) and Moldova (+59.2% per year).

In 2022, the average dried prune import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
