In 2022, Slovakia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of durum wheat to Poland, with a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, durum wheat imports from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ukraine (X tons), threefold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Slovakia amounted to +8.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+91.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+10.2% per year).

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of durum wheat to Poland, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Slovakia amounted to +13.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+15.5% per year) and France (+19.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average durum wheat import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, durum wheat import price increased by +94.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
