Hairpin Market Size in Poland

The Polish hairpin market surged to $X in 2021, jumping by 24% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Germany (X tons) was the main destination for hairpin exports from Poland, accounting for a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, hairpin exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Lithuania (X tons), fivefold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled +20.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (+24.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+25.7% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for hairpin exports from Poland, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 4.5% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +7.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (+5.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+23.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average hairpin export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -12.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Hairpin Imports

Imports into Poland

Hairpin imports into Poland soared to X tons in 2021, jumping by 30% compared with 2020 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, hairpin imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +50.4% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 90% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest hairpin supplier to Poland, with a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, hairpin imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by France (X tons), with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+12.2% per year) and France (+3.2% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest hairpin suppliers to Poland, with a combined 85% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Spain, the Netherlands, France and the UK, which together accounted for a further 10%.

Among the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +86.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average hairpin import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -22.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
