Exports from Poland
In 2022, overseas shipments of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons increased by 0.6% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 89%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 158% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports from Poland, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Pakistan (X tons), with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +5.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+164.4% per year) and Pakistan (+93.0% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons exports from Poland, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +6.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-8.3% per year) and Pakistan (+65.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -41.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2022, overseas purchases of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons increased by 49% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 150%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest halogenated hydrocarbon derivative supplier to Poland, with a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, halogenated hydrocarbon derivative imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with a 2.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany amounted to -4.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+4.6% per year) and Italy (-1.1% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons to Poland, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany amounted to -1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+4.5% per year) and Italy (-3.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -53.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 124%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
