Jewelry Market Size in Poland
The Polish jewelry market fell to $X in 2021, dropping by -5.9% against the previous year. In general, the total consumption indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +33.2% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Jewelry Production in Poland
In value terms, jewelry production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, the total production indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -22.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. Jewelry production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Poland
In 2021, shipments abroad of jewelry increased by 23% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 263%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, jewelry exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate tangible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 62%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for jewelry exports from Poland, accounting for a 42% share of total exports. Moreover, jewelry exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), fourfold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +31.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+5.4% per year) and the UK (+14.1% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for jewelry exports from Poland, comprising 39% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany stood at +25.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+20.8% per year) and the UK (+9.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average jewelry export price stood at $X per kg in 2021, shrinking by -2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 119%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per kg. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Jewelry Imports
Imports into Poland
In 2021, supplies from abroad of jewelry increased by 42% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 146% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, jewelry imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of jewelry to Poland, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, jewelry imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany stood at +62.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+6.9% per year) and Italy (+4.2% per year).
In value terms, the largest jewelry suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Spain, Belgium, Thailand, France, Bulgaria, the UK, Ireland and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 34%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +178.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average jewelry import price stood at $X per kg in 2021, which is down by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per kg in 2020, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per kg), while the price for Ireland ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+56.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
