In 2022, the Polish market for meat of camels and other animals was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a abrupt decline. Camel and other animal meat exports from Poland declined to X tons in 2022, which is down by -10.3% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 184% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +35.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for camel and other animal meat exports from Poland, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, camel and other animal meat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tons), fivefold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +4.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+31.2% per year) and the Netherlands (+5.8% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for meat of camels and other animals exports from Poland, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovenia, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +3.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+2.8% per year) and Slovenia (+23.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average export price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Poland
In 2022, imports of meat of camels and other animals into Poland rose notably to X tons, growing by 8.2% on 2021. In general, imports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 93%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 168% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main suppliers of camel and other animal meat imports to Poland, together accounting for 68% of total imports. The Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, France, the UK and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +116.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest camel and other animal meat suppliers to Poland were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 77% share of total imports. Italy, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, France, the UK and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
Italy, with a CAGR of +101.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+26.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
