Germany (X tons) was the main destination for molluscs exports from Poland, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, molluscs exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Lithuania (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ukraine (X tons), with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled -18.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (-5.9% per year) and Ukraine (-25.8% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for molluscs (scallops, mussels, cuttle fish, squid and octopus) exports from Poland, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to -6.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lithuania (+17.0% per year) and Slovakia (+38.5% per year).

In 2021, the average molluscs export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 98% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw resilient growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+33.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
Molluscs imports into Poland rose notably to X tons in 2021, growing by 11% against the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 32%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of molluscs imports to Poland, together accounting for 56% of total imports. India, Germany, Portugal and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.
