Exports from Poland
In 2021, the amount of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles exported from Poland dropped rapidly to X tons, waning by -24.5% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 187%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for non-alloy aluminium bar exports from Poland, accounting for a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy aluminium bar exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X tons), fourfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +5.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (-0.1% per year) and France (+38.4% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports from Poland, comprising 33% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +12.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+8.3% per year) and France (+37.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-alloy aluminium bar export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 46% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2021, imports of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles into Poland surged to X tons, picking up by 29% compared with 2020. In general, imports saw a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +50.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest non-alloy aluminium bar supplier to Poland, with a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, non-alloy aluminium bar imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled +13.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+31.8% per year) and Belgium (+70.2% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the largest non-alloy aluminium bar suppliers to Poland, together accounting for 57% of total imports. Turkey, China, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
Latvia, with a CAGR of +102.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average non-alloy aluminium bar import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 26% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
