Crude Oil Market Size in Poland

In 2022, the Polish crude oil market increased by 28% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Crude oil consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X tons of crude petroleum oil were imported into Poland; picking up by 7.9% compared with the year before. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crude oil imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude oil imports to Poland, with a combined 86% share of total imports. The UK, the United States and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +610.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($X per ton) and the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) and Kazakhstan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
