The exports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic or non-precious metal watch exports dropped notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 139% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for plastic or non-precious metal watch exports from Poland, with a 37% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic or non-precious metal watch exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (X units), with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +55.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+25.1% per year) and Hungary (-3.6% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastic or non-precious metal watches exports from Poland, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Switzerland, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +59.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+63.2% per year) and Switzerland (+15.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average export price for plastic or non-precious metal watches stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+30.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland

Plastic or non-precious metal watch imports into Poland fell to X units in 2022, dropping by -11.8% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -29.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic or non-precious metal watch imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of plastic or non-precious metal watch to Poland, with a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic or non-precious metal watch imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), sevenfold. Hong Kong SAR (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+13.4% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+14.8% per year).

In value terms, the largest plastic or non-precious metal watch suppliers to Poland were China ($X), Switzerland ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 75% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese), Hong Kong SAR and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.

Among the main suppliers, Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +92.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for plastic or non-precious metal watches amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 43% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
