The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +52.3% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In general, total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +78.0% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of self-adhesive paper exports from Poland, with a combined 36% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Spain, Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, Turkey, the United States, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of +71.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland

In 2021, overseas purchases of self-adhesive paper and paperboard increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, self-adhesive paper imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

France (X tons), Luxembourg (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of self-adhesive paper imports to Poland, together comprising 73% of total imports. The UK, the United States, Germany, Spain and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
