Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The UK (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of sesame oil exports from Poland, together accounting for 68% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +286,583.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for sesame oil exports from Poland, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Norway, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada stood at +152.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+19.9% per year) and Norway (+140.0% per year).

In 2021, the average sesame oil export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -11.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 33%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sesame Oil Imports
Imports into Poland
For the fifth year in a row, Poland recorded growth in overseas purchases of sesame oil, which increased by 4.5% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 32%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, sesame oil imports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sesame oil to Poland, with a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, sesame oil imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +48.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+42.7% per year) and China (+16.8% per year).
In value terms, the largest sesame oil suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 76% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, France, Greece, Spain, Taiwan (Chinese) and the UK, which together accounted for a further 18%.
Among the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +150.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average sesame oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 9.5%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
