In 2020, overseas shipments of sheet piling decreased by -X% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sheet piling exports contracted sharply to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, saw tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The UK (X tons) was the main destination for sheet piling exports from Poland, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sheet piling exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Russia (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+X% per year) and Russia (+X% per year).

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) and Finland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) and Pakistan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Poland

For the third year in a row, Poland recorded decline in overseas purchases of sheet piling, which decreased by -X% to X tons in 2020. Overall, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sheet piling imports declined significantly to $X in 2020. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Luxembourg (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sheet piling to Poland, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sheet piling imports from Luxembourg exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), twofold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Luxembourg amounted to -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-X% per year) and the UK (+X% per year).

From 2009 to 2020, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
