The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, silicates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Finland (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of silicates exports from Poland, together comprising 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, Sweden, Italy, Turkey, the United States, Belgium, Austria, Hungary and Norway, which together accounted for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkey (with a CAGR of +363.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Finland ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for silicates exported from Poland worldwide, together comprising 55% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Sweden, Austria, Italy, Turkey, the United States, Belgium, Hungary and Norway, which together accounted for a further 35%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Turkey, with a CAGR of +258.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average silicates export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 22%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
Silicates imports into Poland surged to X tons in 2021, rising by 45% on 2020. In general, imports saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, silicates imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest silicates supplier to Poland, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, silicates imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X tons), twofold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Czech Republic totaled +13.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+4,616.8% per year) and the Netherlands (+26.2% per year).
In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of silicates, commercial alkali metal silicates to Poland, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 6.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Japan amounted to +15.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+28.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+10.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average silicates import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -5.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 48%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
