Soya Bean Market Size in Poland

In 2021, the average yield of soya beans in Poland dropped slightly to X tons per ha, which is down by -3.1% on 2020 figures. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soya bean exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 1,358% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Finland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of soya bean exports from Poland, together accounting for 75% of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, Slovakia, Russia and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +412.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Finland ($X), Germany ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for soya bean exported from Poland worldwide, together comprising 74% of total exports. Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +327.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average soya bean export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+26.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2021, approx. X tons of soya beans were imported into Poland; waning by -37.3% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 194% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, soya bean imports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 175%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Argentina (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main suppliers of soya bean imports to Poland, together accounting for 62% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +32.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest soya bean suppliers to Poland were Argentina ($X), Ukraine ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 59% share of total imports.
Argentina, with a CAGR of +93.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average soya bean import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
