In value terms, stranded wire exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for stranded wire exports from Poland, accounting for a 35% share of total exports. Moreover, stranded wire exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hungary (X tons), fourfold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +8.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (-9.1% per year) and Italy (+7.8% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for stranded wire, ropes and cables exports from Poland, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 9.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +17.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+7.5% per year) and Hungary (-14.0% per year).

In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, stranded wire imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main suppliers of stranded wire imports to Poland, together accounting for 36% of total imports. Slovakia, Germany, Vietnam, Turkey, South Korea, Spain, France, Belarus, Thailand and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 55%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +109.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X) were the largest stranded wire suppliers to Poland, with a combined 42% share of total imports. Slovakia, Italy, France, South Korea, Vietnam, Hungary, Spain, Thailand, Belarus and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 47%.
Among the main suppliers, Russia, with a CAGR of +94.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average stranded wire import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 9.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
