Exports by Country
Belarus (X tons) was the main destination for strawberry exports from Poland, with a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, strawberry exports to Belarus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ukraine (X tons), with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belarus stood at +41.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-11.4% per year) and Ukraine (+12.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for strawberry exported from Poland were Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 61% of total exports. Latvia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Latvia, with a CAGR of +53.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average strawberry export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Strawberry Imports
Imports into Poland
In 2022, the amount of strawberries imported into Poland skyrocketed to X tons, increasing by 29% against the year before. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +109.7% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, strawberry imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a prominent expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of strawberry imports to Poland, together accounting for 93% of total imports. The Netherlands and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 3.6%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +84.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Spain ($X), Greece ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest strawberry suppliers to Poland, with a combined 93% share of total imports. The Netherlands and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 3.8%.
Ukraine, with a CAGR of +110.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average strawberry import price amounted to $X per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
