After two years of decline, the Polish synthetic rubber market increased by 39% to $X in 2021. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic rubber production surged to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 31% against the previous year. Synthetic rubber production peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports from Poland

After six years of growth, shipments abroad of synthetic rubber decreased by -0.1% to X tons in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +54.8% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, synthetic rubber exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons), India (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main destinations of synthetic rubber exports from Poland, together accounting for 33% of total exports. These countries were followed by China, the Czech Republic, France, Turkey, South Africa, Italy, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Slovenia and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +243.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for synthetic rubber exported from Poland were Germany ($X), India ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 33% share of total exports. China, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, South Africa, Turkey, Hong Kong SAR, Slovenia, Belgium and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +169.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average synthetic rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 53% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Italy ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Poland

Synthetic rubber imports into Poland skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 17% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic rubber imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of synthetic rubber imports to Poland, together accounting for 63% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, South Korea, Italy, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the United States, Thailand, Spain and Japan, which together accounted for a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the largest synthetic rubber suppliers to Poland, with a combined 59% share of total imports. France, South Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, Thailand, the Czech Republic, Japan and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +18.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average synthetic rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
