Tufted Carpet Market Size in Poland

The Polish tufted carpet market fell to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -12.4% against the previous year. In general, the total consumption indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X square meters in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tufted carpet exports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X square meters), Germany (X square meters) and Austria (X square meters) were the main destinations of tufted carpet exports from Poland, together comprising 54% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia, France, Russia, Belgium, the UK, Spain and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +18.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Austria ($X) were the largest markets for tufted carpet exported from Poland worldwide, with a combined 61% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, France, Hungary, the UK, Russia, Slovakia, Belgium, Spain, Ukraine and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, France, with a CAGR of +16.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average tufted carpet export price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, shrinking by -3.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 16%. The export price peaked at $X per square meter in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland

Tufted carpet imports into Poland reduced modestly to X square meters in 2022, waning by -2% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tufted carpet imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Belgium (X square meters), the Netherlands (X square meters) and China (X square meters) were the main suppliers of tufted carpet imports to Poland, with a combined 60% share of total imports. Germany, Egypt, the UK, Turkey and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 9.9% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per square meter), while the price for Egypt ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
