The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 12%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy steel u-section exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +59.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of non-alloy steel u-section exports from Poland, with a combined 52% share of total exports. Austria, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Romania, Denmark and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +4.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for non-alloy steel u-section exported from Poland were Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 50% of total exports. Austria, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Romania, Denmark and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
Finland, with a CAGR of +9.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average non-alloy steel u-section export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Estonia ($X per ton) and Finland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) and Luxembourg ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2022, approx. X tons of u-sections of non-alloy steel were imported into Poland; declining by -19.5% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 92%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy steel u-section imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 204%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-alloy steel u-section imports to Poland, with a combined 80% share of total imports. Luxembourg, France, Romania and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +64.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-alloy steel u-section suppliers to Poland were the Czech Republic ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 78% of total imports. Luxembourg, Romania, France and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
France, with a CAGR of +67.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average non-alloy steel u-section import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 37% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 58%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Luxembourg ($X per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Luxembourg (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
