After two years of growth, the Polish vermouth market decreased by -10% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a notable expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of vermouth, when their volume decreased by -79.6% to X litres. The exports peaked at X litres in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 213% against the previous year. Ukraine (X litres), the Czech Republic (X litres) and the Netherlands (X litres) were the main destinations of vermouth exports from Poland, with a combined 70% share of total exports.

After six years of growth, purchases abroad of vermouth decreased by -7.6% to X litres in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X litres in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, vermouth imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a measured increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then plummeted in the following year.

Imports by Country

Germany (X litres), Italy (X litres) and Bulgaria (X litres) were the main suppliers of vermouth imports to Poland, together comprising 77% of total imports. The United States and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +258.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
