There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Poland
In 2022, overseas purchases of whey decreased by -12.5% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 420%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, whey imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Lithuania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of whey imports to Poland, together comprising 59% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +52.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest whey suppliers to Poland were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 55% of total imports. The Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Ireland and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
