The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for whole fresh milk exports from Poland, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, whole fresh milk exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tons), fivefold. Lithuania (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for whole fresh milk exports from Poland, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +8.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+76.3% per year) and Lithuania (+24.5% per year).

In 2022, the average whole fresh milk export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Whole fresh milk imports into Poland fell slightly to X tons in 2022, remaining stable against 2021. Overall, imports saw a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, whole fresh milk imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.8% against 2020 indices. In 2022, Lithuania (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of whole fresh milk to Poland, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, whole fresh milk imports from Lithuania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Slovakia (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 10% share.
