In general, exports showed resilient growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electric board, desk and panel exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 68%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Spain (X units) was the main destination for electric board, desk and panel exports from Portugal, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, electric board, desk and panel exports to Spain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mozambique (X units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X units), with an 8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Spain amounted to +13.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mozambique (+16.1% per year) and Germany (+77.7% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X), Spain ($X) and Mozambique ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for electric board, desk and panel exported from Portugal worldwide, with a combined 74% share of total exports.
