The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 33%. In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X) constituted the largest markets for ceramic statuette exported from Portugal worldwide, together comprising 52% of total exports. The United States, France, Sweden, Spain, Denmark and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

Sweden, with a CAGR of +19.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average ceramic statuette export price amounted to $X per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles decreased by -2.5% to X tons, falling for the fourth year in a row after four years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw a temperate increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 30%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ceramic statuette imports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (X tons), China (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of ceramic statuette imports to Portugal, together accounting for 62% of total imports. Germany, France, Vietnam and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), China ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the largest ceramic statuette suppliers to Portugal, with a combined 65% share of total imports.
