Common Pottery Market Size in Portugal

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the Portuguese common pottery market, when its value increased by 45% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Common pottery consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +102.6% against 2012 indices. In value terms, common pottery exports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of common pottery exports from Portugal, together accounting for 49% of total exports. The Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, Canada and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Brazil (with a CAGR of +44.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
