The Portuguese non-household fan market dropped dramatically to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -42.4% against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 54%. The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-household fan exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 84%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Spain (X units), Angola (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of non-household fan exports from Portugal, together accounting for 47% of total exports. Germany, Hong Kong SAR, China, Ghana, the UK, the United States, Cabo Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gibraltar and Mozambique lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +133.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Angola ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-household ventilation fans exports from Portugal, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 9.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Angola stood at -3.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+14.8% per year) and Spain (-5.7% per year).

In 2022, the average non-household fan export price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a measured increase. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, non-household fan imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Thailand (X units) constituted the largest non-household fan supplier to Portugal, with a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, non-household fan imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X units), with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Thailand stood at +47.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+17.9% per year) and Italy (+38.1% per year).

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Spain ($X) and Italy ($X) were the largest non-household fan suppliers to Portugal, with a combined 66% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Thailand, with a CAGR of +40.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average non-household fan import price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -19.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
