Over the period under review, consumption recorded prominent growth. In value terms, register book exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 23%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Spain (X tons), France (X tons) and Angola (X tons) were the main destinations of register book exports from Portugal, together accounting for 60% of total exports. Italy, Cabo Verde, the Czech Republic, Malta, Germany, the UK, Honduras, Ireland, the United States and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Honduras (with a CAGR of +117.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
