From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of rubber tube and pipe exports from Portugal, with a combined 48% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Romania, Italy, Angola, Morocco, Greece, the UK, Ireland and Algeria, which together accounted for a further 38%.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of tubes, pipes and hoses of vulcanized rubber was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, rubber tube and pipe imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 64%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest rubber tube and pipe supplier to Portugal, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, rubber tube and pipe imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), threefold. The average rubber tube and pipe import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
