Spain (X tons) was the main destination for glass fiber exports from Portugal, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fiber exports to Spain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Spain amounted to +78.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+171.3% per year) and Germany (+21.4% per year).
In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the key foreign market for voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers exports from Portugal, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 5.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Spain amounted to +73.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+27.5% per year) and France (+7.6% per year).

In 2021, the average glass fiber export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -22.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, glass fiber imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fiber imports to Portugal, with a combined 61% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +585.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Spain ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest glass fiber suppliers to Portugal, together accounting for 56% of total imports. These countries were followed by Morocco, China, Italy, Hungary and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 28%.

In 2021, the average glass fiber import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 3.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Morocco ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
