In 2021, Russia (X tons) represented the key exporter of asbestoses, creating 64% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Kazakhstan (16%). The following exporters - China (X tons) and Canada (X tons) - each accounted for a 2.4% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to asbestos exports from Russia stood at -3.6%. Brazil experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Kazakhstan (-5.0%), Canada (-15.5%) and China (-20.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Brazil (+5.5 p.p.) and Russia (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of Canada (-3.1 p.p.) and China (-4.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest asbestos supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 55% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 20% share of global exports. It was followed by Brazil, with an 18% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Maldives (with a CAGR of +243.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
