At the same time, Indonesia (+19.4%), Belgium (+14.1%), Germany (+13.6%), the United States (+13.2%), India (+8.6%) and France (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest athletic footwear supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 37% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 14% share of global exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 13% share.

In Vietnam, athletic footwear exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+14.3% per year) and Indonesia (+26.6% per year).

At the same time, China (+47.9%), Poland (+23.4%), Germany (+11.4%), Canada (+11.1%), Spain (+10.7%), Mexico (+10.3%), Belgium (+7.4%), the Netherlands (+7.1%), France (+5.5%), Japan (+4.6%), the UK (+3.4%) and Italy (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +47.9% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United States and Germany increased by +8 and +2.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest athletic footwear importing markets into Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 38% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Japan, Spain, Mexico, Poland, China and Canada, which together accounted for a further 33%.
