From 2012 to 2021, the share of Brazil, India, Madagascar, Turkey and Latvia increased by +32, +14, +13, +4.1 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the largest cow peas supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Madagascar ($X), with a 17% share of global exports. It was followed by India, with a 14% share.

India (+40 p.p.), Egypt (+4.6 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+4.5 p.p.), Turkey (+3.9 p.p.) and Pakistan (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while South Korea, Iraq and the United States saw its share reduced by -3.1%, -4.2% and -11.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cow peas (dry) into Puerto Rico, comprising 38% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 7.7% share of global imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 6.7% share.

In India, cow peas imports increased at an average annual rate of +33.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+25.7% per year) and Egypt (+30.4% per year).
