Argentina represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 43% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the United States (5.7%) and Paraguay (5.3%). Spain (X tons), Bolivia (X tons), Russia (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Germany (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to crude soybean oil exports from Argentina stood at +2.2%. At the same time, Turkey (+68.3%), Paraguay (+18.4%), Italy (+18.1%), Ukraine (+16.9%), Russia (+16.2%), Bolivia (+6.8%) and the Netherlands (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +68.3% from 2012-2021. Brazil and Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United States (-3.1%) and Germany (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Paraguay (+3.8 p.p.), Russia (+2.8 p.p.), Turkey (+2.6 p.p.) and Ukraine (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Spain, Argentina, Germany, the United States and Brazil saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -1.7%, -2.9%, -3.9% and -4.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the largest crude soybean oil supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 42% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a 14% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Argentina totaled +2.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-0.7% per year) and the United States (-3.3% per year).

China (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 10% share, followed by Bangladesh (7.5%), Algeria (6.4%), Morocco (5.4%) and Peru (4.8%). South Korea (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Iran (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nigeria (+200.8%), Spain (+32.8%), Poland (+15.0%), Peru (+4.9%), Morocco (+4.3%), Algeria (+4.3%), Colombia (+3.5%) and South Korea (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nigeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +200.8% from 2012-2021. Bangladesh experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, China (-5.5%), Iran (-11.8%) and Venezuela (-19.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+17 p.p.) and Nigeria (+2.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Bangladesh, Venezuela, Iran and China saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -3.6%, -4.5% and -11.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
