At the same time, Spain (+13.2%), China (+4.8%), Belgium (+3.3%) and Egypt (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2021. Germany and the Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United States (-1.2%), France (-1.9%) and Poland (-26.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India and Spain increased by +9.2 and +4.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X), the United States ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 61% of total exports. These countries were followed by Egypt, Spain, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland, which together accounted for a further 31%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +8.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Russia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
