The Puerto Rican glass closure market stood at $X in 2021, increasing by 5.2% against the previous year. The following exporters - France (X tons) and Italy (X tons) - together made up 7.5% of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Italy (+16.8%), Austria (+4.7%) and France (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +16.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Egypt (-38.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+25 p.p.) and Italy (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Egypt saw its share reduced by -26.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest glass closure supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 59% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 9.6% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a 4.7% share.

In China, glass closure exports increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+16.8% per year) and France (-0.4% per year).

The following importers - the Czech Republic (X tons), France (X tons), India (X tons), Russia (X tons), Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) - together made up 23% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +37.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Brazil ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 29% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Spain, France, Germany, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Russia, Vietnam, India, Poland and Romania, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +28.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
