Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -5.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+7.3%), the Czech Republic (+7.3%), Japan (+5.6%) and Germany (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +7.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, France (-4.8%), Malaysia (-4.8%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-41.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Germany (+4.4 p.p.), China (+3.4 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3 p.p.), India (+2.9 p.p.) and Japan (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-21.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest drawing ink pen supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with an 11% share of global exports. It was followed by Japan, with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany stood at +4.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (-2.8% per year) and Japan (+16.1% per year).

While the share of Indonesia (+6.8 p.p.), China (+4.7 p.p.), the United States (+3.8 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.3 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.9 p.p.), Germany (+2.7 p.p.), Senegal (+2.4 p.p.), France (+1.7 p.p.) and Poland (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 40% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, France, Poland, South Korea, the UK, Taiwan (Chinese), the Netherlands, Indonesia, Thailand and Senegal, which together accounted for a further 27%.

The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +49.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
