Lemon And Lime Market Size in Puerto Rico

The Puerto Rican lemon and lime market fell modestly to $X in 2021, declining by -3.7% against the previous year. The Netherlands (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Argentina (X tons). All these countries together held near 13% share of total exports. Brazil (X tons), the United States (X tons), Chile (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Vietnam (with a CAGR of +49.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Mexico ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 53% share of total exports. South Africa, Turkey, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +46.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the United States (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) represented the key importers of lemons and limes, together comprising 49% of total imports. The following importers - France (X tons), the UK (X tons), Poland (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Italy (X tons), Canada (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - together made up 25% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to lemon and lime imports into the United States stood at +7.1%. At the same time, Iraq (+46.7%), the Netherlands (+8.6%), Saudi Arabia (+7.1%), Romania (+5.8%), Germany (+5.7%), Poland (+4.9%), the UK (+3.6%), the United Arab Emirates (+3.4%), France (+2.2%), Canada (+2.1%), Russia (+2.1%) and Italy (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Iraq (+5.1 p.p.), the United States (+2.6 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -2.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lemons and limes into Puerto Rico, comprising 20% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 9.5% share of global imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States totaled +14.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+8.1% per year) and the Netherlands (+9.3% per year).
