At the same time, Turkey (+16.1%), Poland (+7.3%), the Czech Republic (+6.9%), France (+5.9%), the Netherlands (+5.9%), Italy (+3.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.9%) and Germany (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +16.1% from 2012-2021. The UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Canada (-3.2%), the United States (-13.5%) and Mexico (-13.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+13 p.p.), Turkey (+2.4 p.p.) and Poland (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United States saw its share reduced by -1.5%, -1.9%, -2.8% and -10% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 49% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Taiwan (Chinese), France, Canada, Italy, the UK, Turkey and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 36%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +12.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The United States represented the key importer of medical, surgical or veterinary furniture in the world, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 31% of total imports in 2021. Germany (X tons) held a 6.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the UK (5.6%). France (X tons), Canada (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons), Russia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+20.0%), Spain (+15.3%), Poland (+9.3%), the UK (+7.9%), Italy (+7.0%), the Netherlands (+5.4%), Germany (+4.2%) and Canada (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +20.0% from 2012-2021. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Australia (-1.3%), Russia (-2.4%) and Saudi Arabia (-12.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United States increased by +13 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported medical, surgical or veterinary furniture into Puerto Rico, comprising 25% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 5.6% share of global imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5.2% share.
