Russia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 27% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, the United States, Poland, Canada, Russia, Brazil and India, which together accounted for a further 38%.
India, with a CAGR of +11.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the United States (X tons), distantly followed by the UK (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main importers of candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery, together achieving 30% of total imports. Canada (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Sweden (X tons), China (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Australia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+10.4%), China (+9.1%), Poland (+7.2%), the Netherlands (+4.1%), Canada (+3.9%), the UK (+3.9%), Germany (+2.5%), France (+2.2%), Belgium (+2.2%) and Sweden (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +10.4% from 2012-2021. Australia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United States (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery into Puerto Rico, comprising 18% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 6.4% share of global imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States amounted to +4.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.4% per year) and the UK (+3.5% per year).
