Turkey was the major exporter of quinces in the world, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2021. The Netherlands (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (8.4%), Austria (7.4%) and Greece (6.4%). Azerbaijan (X tons), Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and France (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to quince exports from Turkey stood at +9.0%. At the same time, Austria (+115.6%), Syrian Arab Republic (+48.0%), Azerbaijan (+26.3%), Greece (+5.9%) and Spain (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Austria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +115.6% from 2012-2021. The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-16.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+11 p.p.), Austria (+7.3 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+2.2 p.p.) and Syrian Arab Republic (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Spain, France and the Netherlands saw its share reduced by -4.1%, -4.7% and -9.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest quince supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 44% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 16% share of global exports. It was followed by Austria, with an 11% share.

In Turkey, quince exports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (-0.7% per year) and Austria (+108.3% per year).

The following importers - the United States (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons), Georgia (X tons), Albania (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) - together made up 21% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +71.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest quince importing markets into Puerto Rico were Russia ($X), Austria ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 47% of total imports. Romania, France, the Netherlands, the UK, the United States, Switzerland, Iraq, Spain, Albania and Georgia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +67.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
