The Puerto Rican register book market fell to $X in 2021, which is down by -12.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption saw a deep contraction. At the same time, Turkey (+11.9%), Poland (+9.3%), the Netherlands (+7.1%), India (+6.8%) and Vietnam (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +11.9% from 2012-2021. Germany and Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-2.9%), Indonesia (-4.0%) and Italy (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+4.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Italy saw its share reduced by -2.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest register book supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 46% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 7.2% share of global exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +3.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+3.2% per year) and Vietnam (+5.1% per year).

The UK (X tons) held an 8.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (5.2%) and Germany (4.6%). France (X tons), Canada (X tons), Australia (X tons), Japan (X tons), Spain (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Italy (X tons), Russia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the registers, account books, order books and receipt books imports, with a CAGR of +6.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+5.6%), France (+4.0%), Spain (+2.0%), Italy (+1.7%) and Russia (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Canada, the UK and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Australia (-2.2%), Japan (-4.3%), Hong Kong SAR (-10.1%) and the Philippines (-22.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United States (+11 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Japan (-1.5 p.p.), the Philippines (-1.7 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-3.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported registers, account books, order books and receipt books into Puerto Rico, comprising 26% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the UK ($X), with a 7.5% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the UK (-0.3% per year) and Germany (+0.5% per year).
