From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest preserved sardines supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 33% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 14% share of global exports. It was followed by Thailand, with an 11% share.

In Morocco, preserved sardines exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+16.3% per year) and Thailand (-6.3% per year).

In value terms, the largest preserved sardines importing markets into Puerto Rico were the United States ($X), France ($X) and South Africa ($X), together comprising 25% of total imports.
