The following exporters - Italy (X units), Austria (X units), Vietnam (X units), the UK (X units), South Korea (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), Japan (X units), Germany (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - together made up 14% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to hand stamp exports from China stood at -2.6%. At the same time, Italy (+5.3%) and the United States (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +5.3% from 2012-2021. The UK, Vietnam and South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.8%), Japan (-6.0%), the Netherlands (-9.4%), Germany (-18.7%), the Czech Republic (-18.8%), Austria (-21.9%) and Hong Kong SAR (-26.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+9.5 p.p.), the United States (+6 p.p.), Italy (+2.1 p.p.) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of Hong Kong SAR (-3.1 p.p.), the Netherlands (-3.3 p.p.) and Austria (-15.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Austria ($X), China ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 54% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, Italy, the Czech Republic, Japan, Vietnam, the UK, South Korea and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +5.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Puerto Rico stood at less than $X per thousand units in 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per thousand units), while China ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

The following importers - France (X units), the UK (X units), Japan (X units), South Korea (X units), Brazil (X units), Spain (X units), Australia (X units), Indonesia (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and Canada (X units) - together made up 25% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to hand stamp imports into the United States stood at +8.4%. At the same time, the Netherlands (+11.5%), South Korea (+6.4%), Germany (+6.0%), Spain (+5.2%), Indonesia (+3.6%) and France (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +11.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the UK (-2.9%), Australia (-3.6%), Japan (-3.8%), Brazil (-3.9%), Canada (-6.3%) and Hong Kong SAR (-16.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United States, the Netherlands and Germany increased by +13, +4.2 and +3.5 percentage points, respectively. Canada (-1.6 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-7.5 p.p.) saw their shares reduced. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 33% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Japan, the UK, Australia, Canada, Spain, South Korea, Brazil, Hong Kong SAR and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 23%.

In terms of the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +9.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Puerto Rico stood at less than $X per thousand units in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
