Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) represented roughly 64% of total exports in 2021. Hungary (X tons) held a 9.2% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (7.2%), Belgium (6.4%) and Slovakia (4.7%). The following exporters - Slovenia (X tons), Latvia (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) - together made up 5.9% of total exports.

By contrast, Hungary (-5.8%), Austria (-21.6%) and Canada (-22.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (+55 p.p.), Poland (+7.2 p.p.), Belgium (+4.8 p.p.), Slovakia (+3.7 p.p.), Slovenia (+2.5 p.p.) and Latvia (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Austria, Canada, Hungary and the Netherlands saw its share reduced by -4.5%, -5.4%, -12.8% and -53.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest sugar beet supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 33% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 10% share of global exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +21.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+16.5% per year) and Belgium (+13.2% per year).
