Market Size for Television, Video and Digital Cameras in Puerto Rico
In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Puerto Rican market for television, video and digital cameras, when its value increased by 28% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild curtailment. Puerto Rico consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, television, video and digital camera production skyrocketed to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Puerto Rico production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 57% of total exports in 2021. Vietnam (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X units). All these countries together took approx. 12% share of total exports. Hong Kong SAR (X units), Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Hungary (X units), South Korea (X units), Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units) took a minor share of total exports.
Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -4.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+24.1%), the Czech Republic (+17.7%), Germany (+14.3%) and the Netherlands (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +24.1% from 2012-2021. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-3.7%), Vietnam (-5.4%), South Korea (-6.9%), Thailand (-7.1%) and Indonesia (-20.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Taiwan (Chinese) increased by +3.4, +1.9, +1.9, +1.9 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest television, video and digital camera supplier from Puerto Rico, comprising 36% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 7.5% share of global exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China totaled -1.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+9.3% per year) and the Netherlands (-1.7% per year).

India prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 63% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United States (X units), generating a 5.3% share of total imports. Germany (X units), Japan (X units), China (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Mexico (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the television, video and digital cameras imports, with a CAGR of +63.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+7.7%), Japan (+7.3%) and the United States (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Germany and China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Hong Kong SAR (-7.3%) and Mexico (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+61 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Japan (-1.6 p.p.), China (-3.6 p.p.), Mexico (-3.9 p.p.), the United States (-5.6 p.p.), Germany (-7.1 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-7.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported television, video and digital cameras into Puerto Rico, comprising 21% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with an 8.3% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 7% share.
In the United States, television, video and digital camera imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: China (+0.8% per year) and Germany (-1.4% per year).
